Boaters Notice: Reduce Speeds in Harbour
Toronto (May 26, 2017) — All boaters in the Port and Harbour of Toronto are to reduce their speed while in the inner and outer harbour, as well any near shore areas.
Wakes from vessels — including small vessels — roll up onto the Toronto Islands and vessels at berth on elevated dockwalls, causing erosion of the Toronto Islands, beaches and vessel damage.
This is especially important until the lake levels have lowered considerably.
In addition, all boaters are to exercise caution with submerged obstacles and break walls. Boaters are to use the standard red/green navigational markers on the marked break wall gaps, particularly along the western beaches.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Deputy Harbour Master Mike Riehl at 416-462-1227.
