Deployment of Navigational Buoys to Take Place Overnight June 2
Toronto (June 1, 2022) – Please be advised that, in preparation for the boating season, crews will be deploying navigational buoys around Toronto’s Harbour overnight from 10:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2 until approximately 5:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3. Weather dependent.
After removal over the winter for maintenance and repairs, the buoys are placed in the Harbour each spring by PortsToronto to help ensure the safe navigation of boats and ships. The buoys being deployed are located to the west of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Deployment of the buoys to the east of the airport will be scheduled at a later date.
While the buoy deployment is taking place, passersby can expect to see a tugboat, barge and crane, needed to lift the six-tonne buoys, in the Harbour. Minimal noise is expected.
