Important Update on the Cherry Street Bridge
While this process is ongoing and dependent on external factors such as the weather, the aim is to have the bridge operational and safe for passage within the next week. The City of Toronto and PortsToronto appreciate everyone's patience as we continue to work toward re-instating access to the bridge as quickly and safely as possible.
Until the bridge is deemed safe for passage, traffic will continue to be re-routed along Lakeshore Boulevard East to the Don Roadway, which connects with Cherry Street via Villiers Street. Detour signage will remain in place until the bridge is once again operational. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who want to access or return from the port lands can use the Don Roadway, Carlaw Avenue or Leslie Street.
Further information and updates related to operations and traffic/re-routing will be provided by the City of Toronto and PortsToronto via website and social media.
For visuals of the bridge being lowered and spokesperson availability, media are asked to meet on the green space northwest of the bridge. To coordinate onsite interviews, please contact Eric Holmes at the City of Toronto ([email protected]) and Sarah Sutton at PortsToronto ([email protected]).
