New and Enhanced Shuttle Service Launches Today at Billy Bishop Airport
Toronto (April 5, 2016) – Starting today, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (Billy Bishop Airport) will offer new and enhanced shuttle service between the airport and Union Station, building on the connectivity of the airport to the Greater Toronto Area and offering passengers added convenience and new on-board services.
With the launch of the new service, the airport’s shuttle stop will be moved directly in front of the airport’s Mainland Pavilion, providing front door service and making it even easier and more convenient for passengers to get where they are going. Previously, the shuttle stop at the airport was located to the east of the Mainland Pavilion because the older buses were unable to navigate the turning circle. The current shuttle bus stop near Union Station on the southwest corner of University and Front Streets will not change.
All four of Billy Bishop Airport’s new 32-foot shuttle buses are equipped with free, on-board Wi-Fi. By this summer, a new GPS tracking feature will also enable passengers to visit PortsToronto’s website to see exactly when the next shuttle bus will arrive at their location and track the buses while en route. GPS tracking for the shuttle will also be incorporated into the airport’s mobile Billy app later this year.
“With Billy Bishop Airport’s convenient location just minutes from Toronto’s financial, cultural and entertainment districts, an incredible 37 per cent of our travellers already take the shuttle, walk, bike or use public transit to access the airport,” said Gene Cabral, Executive Vice President Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and PortsToronto. “This new service, including new buses, a new front door airport stop located directly at our Mainland Pavilion, and free, on-board WiFi, is yet another important way we are encouraging our passengers to leave their cars at home and use the shuttle to get to our airport.”
The schedule for the shuttle (which runs approximately every 15 minutes) will remain unchanged and can be viewed here.
