PortsToronto Announces New Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations
Toronto (July 29, 2024) – PortsToronto is pleased to welcome a new member of its Communications & Public Affairs team. On August 12, Mr. Atul Sharma will join PortsToronto as Director of Government and Stakeholder Relations.
Mr. Sharma is a seasoned executive with over 20 years of experience in government relations, strategic consulting and economic policy. Prior to joining PortsToronto, Mr. Sharma managed federal and US government relations for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), having built trusted relationships with key decision-makers and securing millions in funding for Toronto Pearson International Airport.
He brings a wealth of experience to PortsToronto, having held senior roles at GCI Group Canada and Hill+Knowlton Strategies, where he drove revenue growth, managed high-stakes client negotiations, and executed strategic and tactical government relations plans.
Mr. Sharma has taught economics at Sheridan College, and holds an undergraduate degree from Carleton University and a Master of Economics degree from the University of Ottawa. Committed to community service, he has served on several boards including the Mississauga Board of Trade and the Future Borders Coalition, and currently serves on the board of Community Door.
