PortsToronto Extends Airport Ferry Service to Toronto Island Residents Due to Planned City Ferry Service Outage
Toronto, ON (January 21, 2017) – With the City of Toronto’s ferry service between Queen’s Quay and Ward’s Island suspended due to a planned service outage from January 21 to 22, 2017, PortsToronto will temporarily extend its Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport ferry service as a courtesy to residents of Toronto Island requiring transportation to and from the mainland.
Recognizing the challenges inherent in a temporary suspension of the City’s ferry service, PortsToronto will waive normal fees and provide passage on the airport ferry free of charge to the City. Regular vehicle charges will apply to commercial vehicles.
PortsToronto will provide escorted access to Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) vehicles only across Billy Bishop Airport’s runways at intervals throughout the day. Staff will work with the airport’s partners and airlines to ensure the safe passage of vehicles and minimize any interference with the airport’s regular operations.
