Ship Channel Bridge Will Close to Vehicle and Marine Traffic Weekends of March 7 to 8 and 14 to 15
Toronto (February 10, 2020) – In order to accommodate necessary bridge-deck grating required to the Ship Channel Bridge, the bridge will be closed to both vehicle and marine traffic over the course of two weekends in March – March 7 to 8 and March 14 to 15, 2020.
The bridge will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists with access maintained via the east sidewalk.
Schedule
The bridge will close to vehicle and marine traffic on Friday, March 6 at 10:00 p.m. and re-open on Sunday, March 8 at 10:00 p.m. The following weekend, the bridge will again close to vehicle and marine traffic and will follow the same timing schedule, closing Friday, March 13 at 10:00 p.m. and re-opening on Sunday March 15, at 10:00 p.m.
In order to accommodate this construction work, the Ship Channel Bridge will be restricted to a single lane of vehicle traffic from Monday, March 2 to Monday, March 16.
Periodic bridge lifts may also take place up until 10:00 p.m. on both Friday dates when the full closure of the bridge takes effect. Traffic/re-routing signage and lighting will be in place to guide vehicles.
In the event of weather-related cancellations, the work will be rescheduled to the weekend of March 21-22, 2020, and PortsToronto will communicate this information via website and social media.
